John McCabe - Piper

John is new to the Charlotte area (May 2007) and brings a wealth of playing experience with him. Prior to moving in May, John was a Band Manager of The Celtic United Pipes and Drums. He also helped form this band in 2003. In addition John was a member of The Leathernecks Pipes and Drums and was able to travel throughout the states and to Ireland and Iceland with the band.

  Born and raised in Jackson Heights New York, John lived in Massapequa Long Island before finally moving to Effort Pennsylvania in 1994. Always having a interest in Piping ,he along with other members of The AOH of Monroe County Pa, formed the Pocono Region Pipes and Drums. As a charter member and first band manager, John helped build the band to become the success it is today. In October 2002, John left the band to start a second band and in early 2003 started Celtic United. In addition he was a member of The Leathernecks from 2000-May 2007. Playing in two bands for 7 years, John has marched in hundreds of parades and played at countless weddings, birthdays,golf outings, and other events.
